Lombok is a small island about 80 x 80 square km. It is very different to Bali. Dominated by the Rinjani peak, it’s north-eastern part is dry.
The southern part near the beach is greatly hilly and has nice clean sandy beaches. The Sasak who make 90 % of the total population are all Muslem. The Balinese who mostly live on West-Lombok and in the capital (Mataram) are Hindu. Senggigi, west of Mataram city, is the most developed area of Lombok.
